Video Review: Sony Vaio UX Micro Computer

We tested the first UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) from Sony – the Sony Vaio UX Mobile Computer – a few months ago. The 1.6lb Vista powered computer comes fully equipped with an Intel Centrino Duo processor, 40gb harddrive, Blue Tooth, Wi-Fi and touch screen not to mention a docking station and a slide out keyboard. Although the UMPC is a great concept it is still far from where it needs...

Diablo: The Movie – Movie Lovers World Wide Consider Suicide

Diablo: The Movie - Movie Lovers World Wide Consider Suicide
As if the whole concept of shooter-games-turned-movies wasn’t already proven beyond any doubt to be the single dumbest idea in movie making history Legendary Pictures – currently producing the much anticipated World of Warcraft movie – has announced that they’ll be wasting even more money trying to make movie crap out of nothing by putting Diablo on the big screen. Since it...

Slurpr – Hack every wireless network around (and go directly to jail)

If you live in an apartment building or in a city you’ve probably noticed that when you turn on your laptop there are multiple wireless networks available – some of them encrypted, some of them locked and some of them wide open. If so you’ve probably also wondered what would happen if someone hacked all these networks and piggybacked off them rather than pay money for their own broadband...

OMFGWTFBBQ – What the @#$@ß happened to the site?!?!!!?

So you noticed? I hope you did. Welcome to the new and massively improved AndNowYouKnow. When we started we based the site on the impressive Content Management System Joomla! (yes, the name is Joomla! with an exclamation point). Unfortunately it turned out that running a gadget blog like this one using Joomla! was a bit like trying to drive a Hummer through a convenient store. So after much research...

LapJacks – Toshiba wants their stickies on your laptop

No matter how fancy your laptop is it’s probably pretty dull to look at when it’s closed. And that’s too bad. All that prime real estate wasted on dull grey and maybe a small logo. Some people have figured out that the back of their laptop screen can be used to display say a company logo or something else that makes it stick out from the crowd. Now Toshiba has gotten in on the deal....

The Abduction Lamp – Fuel your paranoia

Ever wake up with a distinct feeling you’ve been probed by an alien? Ever dreamed of a weird cone shaped ray of light coming down from the skies to lift you up to a flying saucer filled with hot alien women? Ever felt like you are being watched? Constantly? If you say yes to the last one, you are probably right. If you said yes to the first two you should get your head out of the -90s and just...

Amp’d Mobile goes belly up – Watch Telus squirm

The Wall Street Journal reports that US cell phone / multi media carrier Amp’d Mobile filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection this last Friday. The upstart carrier has spent countless millions on their aggressive ad campaigns with heavy focus on their streaming multi media content but it seems clear now that they jumped the shark – I guess people are not willing to watch bad quality...

C-String – a Gadget for the Ladies(‘ Underwear Drawer)

OK, so the words “gadget” and “women’s lingerie” don’t often go together, but when this one landed in our inbox we just had to go with it. Introducing the C-String – the VPL-free (Visible Panty Line for us men) tan-line-free pantie for women who don’t want to pull a Britney/Paris/Lindsay on up-skirt photographers curious onlookers. The C-String is a piece...
